Meet Dr. Carolyn S. George

Carolyn S. George, MD, the founder and owner of VIDA Integrative Medicine, is dedicated to providing personalized healthcare by identifying and addressing the root causes of illness through an approach called Functional and Integrative Medicine. Her functional medical approach helps her find answers so she can treat the root cause of disease instead of just treating the symptoms. She works closely with her patients to explore their health and identify areas of improvement with both traditional medicine as well as nutritional support to maximize their health and well being.

Dr. George is an Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) Certified Practitioner and board certified in Urgent Care Medicine (ABUCM), receiving her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Manitoba. She received her post-graduate training in Toronto at St. Mary’s Hospital and has practiced in both the United States and Canada. Dr. George has spent over 25 years working in the area of Emergency and Urgent care medicine where she observed the long-term consequences of poor lifestyle choices, oversight in management, inadequate patient education and difficult to treat conditions. She realized that her expertise and passion could make a real impact on her patient’s health before irreversible damage has occurred. Since then she has focused exclusively on applying a whole system approach of functional and integrative medicine to her practice.

Dr. George believes strongly that patients make better choices about their health when they understand all the relevant factors that lead to their disease.

    Meet Dr. George’s Staff

    Diana Roman

    Medical Assistant

Diana Roman studied at Palm Beach State College and graduated in 2012 from the Medical Assistant Program, where she then went on to get her certification as a CMA from the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants). She also holds a certification as a BLS (Basic Life Support) provider from the AHA (American Heart Association). She worked in a Primary and Integrative Care Office in 2014 where she learned to work both the front desk and the back office, greeting and catering to all patient needs as soon as they walk in, making them feel right at home. It was here where she met Dr.George and found her interest in functional medicine and all the benefits that you can achieve through healthy lifestyle choices. A year later, she teamed up with Dr.George helping one patient at a time, guiding them to overall health through mind, body and spirit.

    Leslie Harrington
    Health Coach

Leslie is a Certified Transformational Health Coach and Wellness Educator, as well as a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner.  What this means is she acts as an educator for people to implement positive behavioral change to restore function. She has a passion for helping people with insulin resistance, and created a proprietary process and online training called “Your Blood Sugar Bootcamp”.

She has a Masters in Mental Health Therapy and uses the connection between mind and body to understand the dynamics of why people make choices that are not always healthy for them. Her successful 15-year career in the pharmaceutical industry gives her a unique view into the world of medications and how using food as medicine can be more powerful and safe than most commercial prescription drugs.  Her most recent endeavor is hosting the new radio & online TV show “Quality Living with Leslie” which addresses common health complaints, debunking myths about health, bringing clarity to the confusion, and expand the gap between health and illness.

Leslie will take the time to get to know you, your habits, your current diet, your health and wellness concerns and goals, what history you have with previous diets and exercises, and then she will work with you to outline a plan designed to help you not only reach your goals but exceed them. She will help you implement small changes, little by little, at a pace that’s comfortable for you so you can meet all your health goals for long-lasting change.

With Leslie as your wellness co-pilot, you’ll work together to develop a customized plan that takes your individual physical, emotional and lifestyle factors into account and fits with the way you live- and ultimately leads you to permanent, positive change. Leslie will inspire and motivate you to achieve the goals you have established together. You’ll have a friend and confidant throughout your journey.

    Ulla Schindler

    Patient Coordinator/Front Desk Receptionist

Ulla’s life and career has always revolved around the world of food but it wasn’t until she had children that she started paying attention to the types of foods they eat and what effect they can have on our health.

Once she knew, she wanted to learn more, and teach others. So she switched paths and changed careers to become a holistic nutrition consultant: engaging the body, mind & spirit as a whole and interconnected being.

In 2016, Ulla graduated with honors from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition & Culinary Arts and soon after launched “The Mindful Plate”, where she shows people how she learned to start and sustain a healthy lifestyle with the foods they enjoy, they know, and they can pronounce. Her goal is to free them of draining diets so they can confidently shop, cook, and eat for a healthier body, mind, and planet.

In 2017, Ulla joined the VIDA team as the Patient Coordinator/Front Desk Receptionist. She already knew Dr. George professionally, and liked that she shared the same holistic outlook. Ulla is committed to providing every patient with a professional, confidential, and exceptional experience and enjoys sharing her knowledge of holistic nutrition with them.
